What is DIABETESpredict™?

DIABETESpredict™ is a test which assesses our genetic predisposition to developing type 2 diabetes and offers recommendations for disease prevention based on the individual’s genetic profile.

What does the test consist of?

DIABETESpredict analyzes 16 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in 16 genes which are associated with the risk of type 2 diabetes in all ethnicities.

The DIABETESpredict algorithm integrates genotype and phenotype data. It has been clinically validated in large multiethnic population cohorts with over 8,000 patients.

AUC
0,82 [Nature Scientific Reports. 2019. 9(1):2748)].
Sensitivity
73%
Specificity
78%

Scientific studies and meta-analyses of the complete human genome in relation to type 2 diabetes were analyzed in detail for the development of DIABETESpredict The most relevant SNPs, i.e., those exhibiting the most significant association with type 2 diabetes, according to their predictive power (effect size x allele frequency) were selected.

How is the test performed?

Taking a buccal epithelium sample (painless) or blood sample. It is a simple swab sample that you can take yourself.

What information does it provide?

The results report provides information on the patient’s risk of developing type 2 diabetes, genetic profile, and personalized recommendations on physical activity, nutrition, supplements, and pharmacology.

How often should the test be done?

Once in a lifetime.

Who should do the test?

  • People with high blood pressure.
  • People with prediabetes.
  • People with altered cholesterol metabolism.
  • People who are overweight/obese.
  • People over 50 years of age.
  • Women with a history of gestational diabetes.

Type 2 diabetes is a silent, asymptomatic disease.

Following recommendations reduces risk and prevents complications.
