MATERgen\u2122<\/strong> is a genetic test which helps to prevent gestational diabetes and reduce the most common complications of pregnancy.<\/span><\/p>\n

What does the test consist of?<\/strong><\/p>\n

MATERgen\u2122<\/strong> analyzes 21 DNA variants which are found in genes associated with glucose management, insulin resistance, pancreatic structure and function, as well as folic acid and vitamin B12 processing. This genetic test is performed using a buccal epithelium or blood sample to obtain three results:<\/span><\/p>\n

    Information on the woman\u2019s risk level (high, medium, low) and risk score (%) of gestational diabetes.<\/span><\/p>\n

    A negative result means that the most common folic acid supplement (conventional\/standard formulations) would be effective.<\/span><\/p>\n

    A positive result means that the most commonly prescribed folic acid supplement would not be effective and it is therefore recommended to prescribe the active form of folate. 40-60% of women exhibit genetic polymorphisms in the MTHFR enzyme, leading to a reduced amount of active folate. MATERgen\u2122<\/strong> detects those polymorphisms, providing healthcare professionals with essential information to prescribe the ideal formulation.<\/span><\/p>\n

    For genetic predisposition to high homocysteine levels:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

    Binary result (yes\/no, positive\/negative). Information on the presence or absence of genetic predisposition, given that a high homocysteine level is a cardiovascular risk factor and a factor of complications during pregnancy. <\/span><\/p>\n
